What is an MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe and effective diagnostic technique that uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce highly detailed images of soft tissues and internal structures, without radiation.
How Do I Prepare For an MRI?
Before your scan, remove all metal objects such as jewelry, eyeglasses, or hair accessories. Metal can interfere with the magnetic field. We suggest wearing loose-fitting, metal-free clothing or changing into a provided gown.
What Happens During an MRI?
You will lie on a motorized table that moves into the MRI scanner. The test is non-invasive and pain-free, though you may hear loud tapping sounds. Ear protection will be provided to enhance comfort.
How Long Does an MRI Last?
An MRI scan typically lasts between 25 and 60 minutes, depending on the area being imaged.
Are There Any Risks Associated With Getting an MRI?
MRI is generally safe, but it’s essential to disclose any medical implants or metallic objects in your body. Certain devices, such as pacemakers or cochlear implants, may be incompatible with MRI technology.
