Dr. David Capiola, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon in Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Long Island


Born and raised in New York, Dr. David Capiola graduated from Regis High School, and then attended Harvard College where he graduated Magna cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Georgetown Medical School, and then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt (Columbia University). After this, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious New England Baptist Hospital in Boston (a Harvard and Tufts affiliate). During fellowship, Dr Capiola served as a team physician for the Boston Celtics and the Harvard College athletic teams.

Dr. Capiola is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Academy of Orthopaedics, and is Board-Certified. He is an attending surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital/Northwell and Beth Israel/Mt Sinai Hospital. Dr. Capiola specializes in arthroscopic and minimally-invasive surgery. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, outlining novel techniques for repairs of rotator cuff tears in the shoulder, and tendon/ligament injuries in the knee, which are two of his primary areas of interest. Dr. Capiola has performed research and lectured on numerous topics and techniques in orthopaedics and sports medicine. He utilizes cutting-edge perspectives, principles, and experience to expedite the road to recovery on an individual basis for each patient.
