What Is an MRI?
An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a noninvasive scan that lets us look deep inside your body using magnets and radio waves, not radiation. It’s a safe, accurate way to see your joints, muscles, and tissues in detail.
How Do I Get Ready For an MRI?
Before the scan, we’ll ask you to remove anything metal—like jewelry, belts, or glasses—since metal can interfere with the imaging. Feel free to wear cozy, metal-free clothes, or we’ll provide a gown for your visit.
What Should I Expect During the Scan?
You’ll lie comfortably on a table that slides into the MRI machine. You won’t feel anything during the scan, but you’ll hear some loud thumping noises (we’ll give you earplugs or headphones to help with that).
How Long Does It Take?
Every case is different, but most MRI scans take about 25 to 60 minutes, depending on what we’re looking at.
Are There Any Risks?
MRI is very safe for most people. If you have any medical implants or metal in your body—like a pacemaker or cochlear implant—please let us know so we can take the right precautions.
